Dermal fillers don’t contain psychoactive ingredients, which is why it’s impossible for patients to get addicted to the treatment. The answer depends on the type of fillers injected. Some of them last for only 6-12 months while others can stay on the skin for up to 5 years. There’s no direct way to extend the length of your dermal filler, but good skincare habits and aftercare practices can affect how long they remain effective.

Here are a few important reminders to practice after the procedure:

• Avoid strenuous activity. Exercises and other strenuous physical activities increase blood pressure, which puts you at risk of developing bruises near the treatment area. Most bruises take about 2 weeks to completely fade.
• Sleep on your back for the first night. This helps relieve pressure in the treatment areas. It also ensures that the facial filler injection settles on the treated area and won’t spread into the other parts of your face.
• Avoid heat exposure. This includes sun exposure, as well as hot environments like saunas and hot showers. The injected area might react with the heat, causing redness and irritation to show. It might also increase the blood flow on your face and promote bruising.
